Healthy appetite for Games
Tuesday, 05 May 2009

The Commonwealth Games has a busy schedule of major events for between now and 2015, and more cities are lining up to host future events.

After the success of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, the spotlight moves to Delhi for the hosting of the 19th Commonwealth Games.

It is only the second time that the Games will have been hosted in Asia. The only other time the region has hosted the Games was in 1998 when Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia welcomed the sporting youth of all member countries and territories.

In 2008, Pune in India hosted the Commonwealth Youth Games. Next up on the Youth Games calendar is the Isle of Mann in 2011.

Pleasing for the CGF was the decision to award the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games to the Salomon Islands.

Of course, Glasgow has already been awarded the 20th Commonwealth Games, to be held in the beautiful Scottish city in 2014.

But the question remains as to who will host the 2018 Game. Many cities are expressing strong interest, which bodes well for the future of the Commonwealth Games.
